Deep Sea Treasure – Making Day
Join current Lookout21 resident artists Dizzy O’Dare on board LV21 for a day of making bizarre and wonderful treasures found at the bottom of the sea…or in the muddy waters of River Medway. Rats Bay Shindig

We’re hoisting the anchor and heading over to the Rats Bay Shindig, a new family-friendly free festival at Chatham Waterfront. Lookout for artist Wendy Daws and all round entertainer Mr E from Dizzy O’Dare to help them in their quest to spot the hidden gems of Medway with the aid of some unusual looking devices.
Or get creative and join University of Kent Creative Events student Paulina Speltz to build a tender boat of dreams filled with your hopes and wishes for Medway. Tell us how do you see the river? A source of inspiration, fun, work or leisure? Share your stories and memories of the River Medway and lock them safely onboard ‘Lookie’ before she sails back to Light Vessel 21.

Making Waves – Free Workshop
To celebrate what has been an exciting start to the Lookout programme, artist Jim Backhouse from Radio Arts and LV21’s resident radio operator Colin Turner invite local residents aboard Light Vessel 21 to catch some more airwaves. Join Jim and Colin to construct your very own customized AM radio and hear about their ‘behind the scenes’ experiences and highlights of the collaborative residential, which has led to the production of a site-specific audio tapestry of Medway Sounds, including a Human Foghorn.
During the workshop you will learn practical soldering techniques, work with electronic components and use different hand tools – and then get to take the radio home with you to grace your bedside table.Read more…
